New Directors for HCP’s March Medley!
HCP is thrilled to be showcasing 4 new directors at our March Dinner Theater 15-17 and 22-24. People often ask me, “How do you get new directors and what exactly do they do?” Since I think that being a director is easier than explaining what a director does, I checked out how the American Association of Community Theatre explained the roles of a director.
“The work of the director is central to the production of a play, since it is the director who sets the vision for the production for everyone involved. The director has the challenging task of bringing together the many complex pieces of a production—the script, actors, set, costuming, lighting and sound and music—into a unified whole.” At HCP we have a team of volunteers to help the director pull together this vision.
People also ask me where we find directors. That is really easy to answer. Everywhere! Our March one act plays are showcasing four community members who have never directed for HCP before.
“Our 2018 goal at the Highlands Cashiers Players is to find new directors and actors. These short plays give those who have perhaps never been in a play or those who haven’t auditioned for us in a long time, the chance to appear in a short 10 minute play and see how they like it.” said Donna Cochran, HCP Board Member and producer of the March Dinner Theater . “These new directors would love to work with new actors in a collaborative effort.
